Say Jernigan Planning to Leave State.
DES MOINES (UPI) — Former Director of the Iowa Commission of the Blind Kenneth Jernigan may be planning to leave the capitol city, members of a committee set up to investigate the blind commission learned this weekend.
The latest issue of the Braille Monitor, a publication of the National Federation of the Blind, said Jernigan intended to work for that organization, which has major offices in Washington D.C. and Des Moines.
Jernigan could not be reached for comment Sunday.
During it's weekend meeting, the group also discussed the blind commission and private organizations with which Jernigan had been involved.
Committee members were told that two of the groups, the American Brotherhood the Blind Inc. and the Services for the Blind Inc. had denied investigators access to their records. Jernigan had been president of both but had resigned.
