Mrs. T. McCune Dies; Funeral here Friday.

Vinton News

Mrs. T. F. McCune, 74 years old, who claimed Vinton as her home for 46 years, died Tuesday at 3:45 p.m. at the home of her daughter, Mrs. A. B. Opfer of Minneapolis. Her death was due to heart trouble and complications following a severe attack of influenza last winter.

Mrs. McCune came to Vinton early in the summer from Minneapolis, having spent the winters there in recent years with the Opfer family, expecting to remain at her home all summer. Owing to her weekend condition Mrs. Opfer and two children joined her and remained several weeks. A week ago Sunday the sick woman was taken to Minneapolis, Mr. Opfer motoring here after his family and Mrs. McCune.

The body will arrive in Vinton this evening accompanied by the Opfer family. Funeral will be held Friday at 2:00 o’clock at the McCune home on east 4th Street Burial in Evergreen Cemetery. The Rev. Cornelius N. Bakker of the Presbyterian church will be in charge.

Mrs. McCune was the widow of Thomas F. McCune, who for nearly thirty years was identified with the Iowa School for the Blind as teacher and superintendent. She came here a bride following her marriage on March 28, 1883. There are two children surviving, Mrs. Opfer and John McCune of Chicago. The son will accompany the Opfer family here this evening for the funeral.
